What should have good shelter, where is a good place for it? What kind of conditions to preapre for?

I am interested by purchasing a safe house just in case the worst happens scnario (Apocalypse). Not for religious reasons, I I remember my grandfather always having at least one unregistered gun at home and his office equipment, first aid etc, just in case the S ** t hit the fan. I think it is a wise investment, and I have the money, but want to know what to spend it. I say there are three important things, weapons, food, shelter. The shelter should be in a remote location, and I live in Anchorage, AK then maybe central? WY? What a sensible amount of time to prepare? More than a year? If you overstock, and let the food, he may have gone wrong when you need. What are the things that need to be prepared? Anarchy? Oppressive government? WW3? Natural Disasters (Yellowstone)? If you're comfortable in driving the extra 30 miles, why not make your farm there instead of where you are? If you can answer this question rationally, plan to relocate.
