Ergonomics in the home office or small office
December 04, 2005
Ergonomics in the office environment is concerned with how the body interacts with equipment in the office. It is to do with how your body is affected or put under strain in your everyday office environment.
You may find that if you use a computer mouse for long periods you may suffer from Carpel Tunnel Syndrome. Symptoms include tingling and numbness in the hand.
If you are sitting for long periods you may experience aching or numbness in your back, legs, feet or posterior. The human body was not designed to sit for long periods, the muscles require activity.
There are things you can do to avoid stress on the body. It is recommended that you avoid excessive repetition, strain when reaching too far whilst seated, sitting correctly and with your back supported. The correct light, heat and humidity should also be maintained.
