Natural lighting to reduce eyestrain
December 05, 2005
Lighting is an important factor whilst working in an office or home office environment. You are spending hours looking at a computer screen or reading, under incorrect lighting this puts additional strain on your eyes.
Humans have evolved to see in natural daylight, this means that our eyes become tired when trying to function under artificial light. The ideal solution to this is to work in an area with some natural daylight, this is not always possible but there is an alternative.
Natural lighting is can be used to recreate the natural spectrum of the sun. This type of light reduces the stress on our eyes and shows objects in their true colours. Natural lighting has been used in other industries such as crafts for some time because of the benefits of natural lighting.
Daylight or natural lighting bulbs are available as a direct replacement for standard incandescent bulb fittings so there is no need for any special equipment. Full Spectrum Lighting Bulbs are available s energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Full spectrum natural light bulbs are slightly more expensive than standard compact fluorescent bulbs but do offer a more comfortable and natural working environment.
